I know this has been a long time for many of you, but I finally finished version 1.0 of my Scenario Templates:

The overall ranking for Adepticon are in, so we can see how some of my predictions fared: 2. More non-core factions will place in the top than the bottom 7. And finally, after adjusting for number of participants for each faction, Directorate and Aquans will dominate the top half. I was certainly spot on with #2. Out of the 22 participants, 10 used one of the Core Fleets, but only four placed in the top 11. Surprisingly, there were no Aquan players, and perhaps more surprisingly, the top placing Core Faction was Terrans, placing 7th. If you look at only the Core Factions and average their rankings... Terrans 10.5 Directorate 12.5 Dindrenzi 15.6 Sorylian 16 Relthosa 12 This is the order of the top placer for each faction; the Relthosa only had one player; the rest had two and Dindrenzi had three. So the Directorate still did fairly well overall (especially if you consider their Natural Allies) Once the Army Lists are fully released, we'll look at how often Allies were used, as well as dual-list variability. And finally: 4. Several in the bottom half will end up loosing their last game because their digital devices will not last through 10 hours of gameplay and forfeiting. Most in the top half will have hard copy versions of their unit stats. Thankfully, the two Dropped players were for other reasons. However, it sounds like most (if not all) players were using hard copy versions of the rules, so hopefully everyone realized having only digital rules could be a liability. Turns out there's a Weebly App, so I can post from my phone. While the largest FSA Tournament plays out at Adepticon right now, it's time to make some predictions. While its easy to say the players with the most gameplay time will dominate the top spots, it's potential more informative to compare the top half to the bottom half. Here's how I think that comparison will break out. 1. Players with two very different lists (only requirement is minimum selection come from the same faction) will dominate the top; players with only one list will dominate the bottom. 2. More non-core factions will place in the top than the bottom 3. Lists without allies will dominate the bottom half. 4. Several in the bottom half will end up loosing their last game because their digital devices will not last through 10 hours of gameplay forfeiting. Most in the top half will have hard copy versions of their unit stats. 5. The top half will contain many units for which there is no official model (Opponents unfamiliar with their abilities). 6. The top half will have several players using custom bases; they modeled for advantage (perhaps unknowingly). 7. And finally, after adjusting for number of participants for each faction, Directorate and Aquans will dominate the top half. So that's it. I'm looking forward to seeing the results tomorrow. It's been a crazy week for me, and this upcoming week will be just as crazy. I knew it was too ambitious to set the goal to paint my patrol fleet to completion AND create a Battle Report format. All I managed painting was to prime the rest of my fleet when it became seasonably normal at 40 for one day. All I managed for the Battle Report is to make some graphics in PowerPoint. Well, I did have a 2-Turn game at 600 points, where just about every attack was a Critical hit, and we got two Reactor Overloads, one Reactor Leak, and one Fold Drive Rupture. I summarized the short game (which I would have lost if continued) in the Battle Reports section of Spartan Game's Firestorm Armada section.
I'm also 90% done with my first Article and Analysis of the game. I still need to upload photos, and work on some content, but I wanted to post it before I lost it. Hopefully I receive positive feedback, and will write more articles like it in the future. I also want to discuss the Critical Hit Table, as well as statistics on Shields, Beams, and Cloaks/Impeded LOS. Finally, I e-mailed Spartan Games about my Terrain Templates. What I'm doing next weekend will largely be dictated by their response. |
