So, it's been a few days since the Michigan GT, and I'm still struggling to catch up on sleep. I'll post more on the weekend later, but I wanted to get these photos out there first.

Boarding the plane for Lansing, Michigan. Need to get sleep, so I can paint: 1 RSN Dreadnought 3 RSN Escorts 1-2 Battlecruisers And whatever time is left will be spent slapping more paint to my magnetized Cruisers/Heavy Cruisers I also need to print out my Fleet Lists, based on how much I get painted in 8 hours. On the plus side, I signed up for a three hour air-brushing class, so hopefully I can use an airbrush for most of the painting. If not, I'll just have to go for quick and dirty. I'll post my Fleet Lists to tonight as an update The Michigan GT is in 5 days, so it's been a mad painting weekend for me. I was hoping to finish my magnetized Cruisers/Heavy Cruisers yesterday... I have one Heavy Cruiser fully painted. So, I'll do what I can tonight, hopefully finish tommorow, and then do the sloppiest painting ever on my Dreadnought and Escorts... Oh, and at least one Battlecruiser, if not two. No problem, right? I do want to share something else. It occurred to me I can quite easily take black and white photos with my Smart Phone. This is a great technique to analyze your paint scheme, as you want the model to be interesting even without color. As you can see, the model is mostly grey, with a dark area over the engines, and a lot of details are essentially black-lined. This is good, because I don't want anything too bright, as it would detract from the engine glow... When I eventually figure out how to do it. Maybe if I get an airbrush... In any case, hope you find this helpful, and maybe I'll see you this weekend. For the six people that follow what I'm doing here, I apologize for not updating this weekend. My excuse is I've been sick, and tired. But that did not stop me from making progress. I bought my first can of army painter black primer last week, and it will not be my last. I took advantage of the weather and prepped and painted a lot of models. That is a magnetized Cruiser/Heavy Cruiser squadron, and a planetfall frigate squadron. Hopefully, I will pin the gunracks to the engines tonight, and have them painted by Sunday. I also primed the hull sections for my Legion Assault Carrier. Now I am basically out of primer. I have one problem with this model. Basically, I think one of the Rail Cannon arms is warped. Then again, maybe they are not supposed to be parallel. So I will have to boil it in water so I can straighten it out. Finally I slap some paint on my escorts. I need to do some more work, but they are good enough for next week. |
